Zebb's Story
Although Zebb was 18 yrs old when I lost him, he was always my little boy. He was a snuggly baby, a cuddly child and an affectionate teen. Although he was found to have some issues with reading and an element of ‘scatter’ in his thinking process, Zebb made average grades in school. He was in the JROTC in... High School and loved Drill Team. He worked at Wal- Mart on Hendersonville Rd in Skyland, NC from the time he was 16 in order to pay for his car. He became well loved by the women he worked with because he worked hard, was kind, thoughtful, respectful and always had a smile on his face. In the months before he disappeared, Zebb had befriended a young mother who he said was having trouble with her relationship with her boyfriend. They talked on the phone and he had taken her Christmas Shopping. Zebb also was looking at used Eclipse’s, hoping to buy one. The night he disappeared, he had followed a young man he had previously worked with. On Sunday evening, 1/2/2000, they left the Hendersonville Rd (US25) Wal-Mart, stopped at the Eblen Citco on the corner of US 25 and Long ShoalsRd in Skyland. Security tapes show their cars (Zebbs 1991 light blue, 4 door, Mazda Protégé) at 9:17 pm heading toward Long Shoals Rd toward I-26. That was the last time we know of that Zebb was seen. According to the young man, Zebb had him pull over by the TC Roberson High School Sign. He said Zebb gave a reason and didn’t continue to I 26 but headed back to US 25. Two weeks later (Sun. 1/16/2000), Zebbs car was found in the Little Pigs BBQ parking lot on McDowell Ave in Asheville with a black lab mix puppy locked inside and lips and exclamation marks painted on the back window in lipstick. I can’t begin to tell you how difficult it is for us to go day to day not knowing what happened to Zebb. PLEASE HELP US!
